Errol DouglasHairstylist Errol Douglas is among the cream of the hairdressing industry and a favourite among clients and industry peers alike. Renowned for his stunning photographic work, Errol has won several of the world’s most coveted awards.  Already for 2012, he has secured three major industry nominations:  A 16th consecutive nomination for Hji’s British Hairdresser Of The Year and two equally coveted Creative Head nods in these categories: Most Wanted Icon and Creative Talent 2012.  He has also been named as the first UK & Ireland Brand Ambassador for Moroccanoil. 

In 2011 Errol’s salon won the Hairdressing Salon of the Year in the London Lifestyle awards. He is a 3 time British Hairdresser Award Afro category winner, winner of the Black Beauty/Wahl Awards’ Stylist of the Year, overall AIPP Grand Trophy winner, AIPP Avant Garde Trophy Winner, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Hairdresser of the Year, the Fellowship Gold Salon Consumer Award (2 consecutive years), Good Salon Guide Award for Outstanding Contribution to the hairdressing industry, Creative Head Media Darling of the Year, British Master Award at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards ceremony, Most Wanted Hair Trend 2009 and Creative Talent 2010 and was awarded a PHAB Honours for performance in hair and beauty. Errol has mentored and been Artistic Director for the Fellowships Fame Team for 7 years. This earned him the rare award of Outstanding Contribution to the Fame Team in 2011. In addition, 2008 saw Errol awarded an MBE for services to hairdressing – an exciting acknowledgement of his work educating and nurturing new talent within the industry. He was also named Cosmopolitan’s Ultimate Man of the Year. 

 

Errol’s photographic work is regularly featured in the fashion and beauty press and he participates in shows and seminars in Britain, France, USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Bali, Russia and Poland, presenting his hairdressing skills and creative techniques to a wide audience. Errol’s hairdressing talents, professional approach and enormous personality make him the obvious choice for television. Errol has filmed for Kitchen Sink to Catwalk, and other appearances have included DayBreak, BBC Breakfast, This Morning, Good Morning, Model Behaviour, UK Living, 10 Years Younger, Ready Steady Cook, The Weakest Link, Extreme Makeover, Celebrity Scissorhands, X Factor and more. 

 

His hairstyling skills set the standards that others follow, while his collections preview hot new trends fused with classic styling – no surprise given that he first realised his dream of working in hairdressing when he was just eleven years old, taking a job in a local hair salon in East London. He then moved to Knightsbridge’s Neville Daniel salon spending six years here, before moving to Paul Edmonds for 5 years as Artistic Director. 

 

In summer 1998, Errol opened the Errol Douglas salon in London’s gorgeous Belgravia Village. The salon’s immense success is testament to the dedication of Errol and his team of talented stylists. Hailed as a fusion of European and Afro styling, the salon recent refresh saw the introduction of new touch points to add to the in-house chef and beauty therapist, including:  Ipad look books, a Rococo “treat suite” and a collection of “Fly In Glamour Out” express treatments for the growing busy crowd both in the city and internationally.    Errol and his team are known as the “go to” for all hair types, as each stylist specialises and delivers to the same high standard whatever the hair type. His colour team are also known in the industry for their ability to deliver wearable glamour as well as complicated colour transitions often required on film sets.  Errol is planning for New York and Paris openings, two cities where he has a big following, over the next 2 years.
